What is this?

This is a traced, interactive illustration made using HTML canvas

How was it made?

This was made by plotting points on a coordinate grid over top of a reference image and connecting them with quadratic and Bezier curves using HTML canvas. After the shapes are completed, they are filled with custom gradients to provide depth to the images.



Interactivity:

Both Mario and the lumas are drawn on different layers. The layers move differently based on where the mouse is located on the canvas.

Board Game: A Pirate's Life

What is this? This is a board game I developed in a group for my game design class. I acted as the group leader and was the primary contributor for all of the gameplay elements. We worked as a group to refine these elements through playtesting using the iterative design process. The art assets are not commercial ready yet and were not the focus of the assignment, but I do plan to clean up the visuals at a later date. The assignment was to modify the original checkered game of life and make it our own. As a group we decided to make a pirate themed game where players move around an island looking for treasure, stealing from other players and avoiding the skeletons that inhabit the island. This game went through many iterations were we added, refined and removed features. The final ruleset and some of the changes we documented can be found below.
